How can I have a personal relationship with God? ?

I was a Catholic who was converted to a Wiccan for years and now I think I have done the wrong thing by converting although I much more prefer to have that personal relationship with the divine as in Wicca. I like to worship and pray in the privacy of my home using my own devices (music, art, poetry.) How can I have a personal, artful relationship with God without being considered a Witch? I left Catholicism because our church had very strict rules on how to worship.
